Locations:

  • Week 1 & 2: Silver Spring, MD (July 8–19)

  • Week 3 & 4: Bowie, MD (July 22–August 2)
    Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:00 PM


About the Internship

Are you a creative and organized high school senior who loves the performing arts and working with kids? Join Sparrow Song & Dance as an Arts Administration & Youth Leadership Intern and get real-world experience helping run a youth musical theater camp.

Over the course of four weeks, interns will support both locations of our high-energy camp production of The Lion King (Kids). You’ll gain hands-on experience in camp logistics, arts programming, and performance preparation—all while helping young performers thrive on and off stage.


What You’ll Learn

  • How to support the behind-the-scenes operations of a musical theater camp

  • Basics of stage production, including costuming, props, and rehearsal prep

  • Leadership and communication when working with children

  • Event coordination and teamwork in a creative setting

  • Daily responsibilities of teaching artists and program leaders


Responsibilities

  • Assist camp directors and instructors with setup, materials, and transitions

  • Help manage daily schedules and camper supervision during breaks

  • Support rehearsals and activities by helping campers stay on task and engaged

  • Assist with backstage organization, props, and costume prep

  • Participate in final performance prep and show day operations

  • Be a positive, encouraging presence for campers ages 7–16


Qualifications

  • Rising high school seniors or recent graduates

  • Interest in performing arts, education, leadership, or event planning

  • Responsible, reliable, and able to take initiative

  • Comfortable working with children and helping in group settings

  • Available for both camp sessions, July 8–August 2, Monday–Friday
